Lebanese darts reached an important milestone in December 2025 as Lebanon participated in the Egypt Darts Open for the first time, marking the country’s entry onto the international competitive darts stage.

Lebanon was represented by Karim Dagher at the Egypt Darts Open & Masters, held from 12 to 14 December 2025 at the Ivy Cyrene Island Resort in Sharm El-Sheikh. The World Darts Federation-ranked event brought together players from Egypt, the Arab region, Europe and several other international markets. Competitions were organized across senior, under-23 and youth categories for both male and female players.

A First Step onto the International Stage

For Lebanon, the tournament represented more than an individual sporting appearance. It was the first opportunity for a Lebanese player to compete under the national flag at the Egypt Open, establishing an important precedent for the country’s growing darts community.

Dagher competed in both the Egypt Open Men’s Singles and the Egypt Masters Men’s Singles, gaining valuable experience against players accustomed to participating in international and WDF-ranked tournaments.

In the Egypt Open, which featured 114 participants, Dagher progressed to the last 64 after competing in two matches. His appearance placed Lebanon among the nations represented in one of the region’s most established international darts competitions.

Dagher also participated in the Egypt Masters, recording a three-dart average of 66.32 in his opening-round match. Although his Masters campaign ended in the qualification stage, the performance demonstrated his ability to compete at a considerably higher level than his overall average during the Open event.

Experience Beyond the Results

While tournament results remain an important measure of performance, Lebanon’s first participation was primarily about exposure, learning and establishing a presence.

International tournaments require players to adapt to unfamiliar venues, strict competition schedules, electronic scoring systems and the pressure of representing their country. Competing against experienced players also provides a clearer understanding of the standards required to succeed at regional and international level.

The experience offered valuable insights into player preparation, tournament organization and the competitive structures used by established darts federations. These lessons can support the continued development of the sport in Lebanon, particularly as efforts grow to organize players, create structured competitions and introduce more Lebanese participants to international events.

Opening the Door for Future Lebanese Players

Lebanon’s debut at the Egypt Open should therefore be viewed as the beginning of a longer journey.

The country has an emerging community of darts players, but greater progress will require regular local tournaments, youth development programs, structured rankings, training opportunities and stronger institutional support. International participation can play an important role in accelerating this development by giving Lebanese players measurable performance targets and access to more experienced competitors.

Dagher’s participation demonstrated that Lebanese players can take the first step beyond local competition and represent their country internationally. The objective now is to ensure that future tournaments feature a larger and more diverse Lebanese delegation, including senior, youth, women and para-darts players.

Lebanon’s first appearance at the Egypt Darts Open may have involved only one competitor, but its significance extends well beyond a single tournament. It placed Lebanon on the international darts map and opened the door for a new generation of players to follow.

The first dart has been thrown. The next chapter is to build a team capable of carrying the Lebanese flag to tournaments across the region and, eventually, the world.
